A three-stage suborbital sounding rocket was launched in the afternoon on March 3 for the Department of Defense from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia that will study ionization in space. The payload released a small, non-hazardous vapor cloud shortly after launch during the mission. This cloud was visible over the ocean to residents in the mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States.
