Timothy Sutton (Tim), 62, loving brother, uncle, and friend received his special angel wings on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at home in Harbinger, NC surrounded by family. He was born on February 7, 1959 to the late Freeman and Virginia Sutton of Mathews, VA.
Tim was loved by all who met him. His sweet smile and laughter were contagious, and he lit up a room when he entered. He loved everyone unconditionally, especially his “girls”. He loved his music, books, games and cards, especially anything to do with the Wizard of Oz. Tim and his brother-in-law Gary spent many special hours playing music together. The Special Olympics was a big part of Tim’s life since he was very young. He won countless medals over the years and also won a medal in the local Senior Games. He worked at McDonald’s of Kitty Hawk for 12 years before his health deteriorated.
Tim is survived by his devoted family – sister Jackie (Gary), brother Gene (Martha), niece Susan, nephews Scott (Kim) and Douglas (Cheryl), great-nieces Chelsea, Lindsay, Ashley, Taylor, and Ali, many cousins, step-niece Tammy and great-nieces Deanna, Sierra, Tiffany and nephews Chad and Zachary, extended family and SO MANY friends. He is predeceased by his parents, a brother – Bob Sutton, and sister – Cathy Lynn.
The family wishes to thank Albemarle Home Care and Hospice for their help and caring, especially Heather Kepler, Juanita Baum, and Melanie, also to his Easter Seals family of amazing caregivers and staff, and to the Monarch Currituck Lighthouse Club for friendships he made over the past 16 years since he moved to the Outer Banks. There have been so many people that have made a difference in Tim’s lifetime, we apologize if we have missed anyone.
There will be a graveside service in Mathews, VA, and a Celebration of Life to be held locally in the near future. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation may donate in Tim’s memory to the Dare or Currituck County Special Olympics.
Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
