The Kill Devil Hills Police Department has posted this April 5 tribute to retired KDH Police Detective Lieutenant Bill Walker, who passed away on Sunday. Aside from nearly three decades with the department, he was deeply involved in the local community.

Very sad to learn of the passing of Bill. He was a great guy, and a real this is a true loss to our overall community.

In the late 70’s, he, and the Kill Devil Hills Police force were already doing, ” Community Policing “, long before such a concept was talked about, and discovered nationally.

He was great with the kids, and no doubt redirected many to a better path. He is one of many that made our community a better place, and he’ll be missed.

My hopes for peace, and comforts to Bill’s family, and all who knew him. Rest in peace Bil, very well done Sir.
