Late-inning lightning fuels Manteo softball win

Manteo High School mounted a fierce rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn an incredible victory over visiting Edenton Holmes on April 27.  Manteo trailed 7-2 going into the bottom of the last inning, but came storming back with six runs to take the win. Manteo finished with eight runs on seven hits including a double by freshman Sydnee Ballance and a home run by senior Gabby Gregory. Ballance also had three RBIs in the game. Sophomore pitcher Emily Williams struck out six in picking up the win. The victory puts Manteo at 8-5 overall and 4-3 in Albemarle Conference play.
