Another day of few cases in Dare County

On May 3, for the third straight day, the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) reported only 2 new cases of COVID-19. Both of the latest cases involve women who are not residents of Dare County and who have been transferred to their home county.

The DHHS also reported on May 3 that 13 county residents who had been characterized as having active cases are now recovered. That leaves 35 current active cases among Dare County residents.

Statewide NC coronavirus numbers on May 3

  • Total reported NC cases – 974,319
  • New cases reported today – 1,126 (1,618 on May 2, 1,126 on May 1)
  • Reported deaths – 12,691
  • Currently hospitalized 1,007
  • Suspected COVID-19 cases hospitalized in past 24 hours – 143
  • Confirmed COVID-19 case hospitalized in past 24 hours – 100
  • Adults in ICU with COVID-19 – 263
  • Patients presumed to be recovered – 938,740
  • Reported cases in Dare, Currituck and Hyde Counties – 5,355 (Dare 3,152, Currituck 1,522, Hyde 681)
  • Completed tests – 12,504,937
  • Daily percent positive tests – 6.0%
  • Vaccine doses – 49.6% of adults with at least one doses, 41.7% fully vaccinated

Note: Every morning, the NC Department of Health and Human Services posts updates the number of reported cases of coronavirus. That number reflects positive results from all tests, including the NC State Laboratory of Public Health and all hospital and commercial labs. There may be other reports, from the media and elsewhere, that will include different numbers during a given day, but this is an effective way of tracking numbers from the same source on a day-to-day basis.
