Paul Edwards McRae, age 75, of Elizabeth City, NC died Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home. Born in Portsmouth, VA on October 23, 1945 to the late James A. McRae and Helen Dungan McRae, he was the husband of Linda Dunkirk McRae since their marriage in 1981. He served his country honorably in the Army National Guard and was President/Owner of Eastern Gate Nissan for eighteen years here in Elizabeth City. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of The Pines Country Club and was President of Mother’s Brothers Golf Group. The McRae’s enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter in their RV. Paul enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening and his numerous pets. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Elizabeth City Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his sons Paul McRae, Jr. (Julie) and Edward Ruskowsky III, both of Chesapeake, VA; a daughter, Diane Zeuner, of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Elizabeth Dudley of Norfolk, VA; and four grandchildren, Justin Dail, Lynnzy Zeuner, Colby McRae, and Baxter Ruskowsky. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Jonathan Dail, and a brother, James A. McRae. Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Clay Manos officiating. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at Meadow Brooke Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
