The Corolla Wild Horse Fund is happy to introduce its latest addition — Bramble.
“We aren’t 100% sure of the sex of this foal yet (we think it’s a filly…still need a closer look) but have chosen the name Bramble. He/she was born this morning (May 11) and both baby and mom are in great shape.
This is one of the mares that adopted Rosie a couple years ago when her mom died, and we are so happy to see that she has a foal of her own now. She is an excellent aunt and mother. Remember to always give these new families plenty of space! They need quiet time to bond, and we want this baby to grow up as healthy and wild as possible.”

Please don’t feed this one whole apples like you did the last one. Thanks.

Please change the sign on the Caratoke Highway that tells you not to feed the horses so it faces traffic coming toward the beach, not leaving it! When I was a kid in the 50’s and 60’s, they were just called Banker Ponies and we felt sorry for their hard lives eating salt marsh hay and drinking brack water. Now they have semi-celebrity status and are a huge draw for Carova. Please let these beautiful hardy creatures live in peace and many thanks to the dedicated members of the Wild Horse Fund for doing their best to oversee their wellbeing.
