Man charged with assault on Dare Deputy held on $100K bond

On July 21, the Dare County Sheriff’s office issued this release about the arrest of a man for attacking a Deputy.

On July 12, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Deputy working the C-District responded to an EMS call for a person acting unstable at a residence in the 40100 Block of Hwy 12, Avon NC. When the Deputy arrived, the person attacked the Deputy, scratching and biting the facial area. The assailant also tried to take the Taser and Handgun out of the Deputy’s holsters during the altercation.

The Deputy was able to gain control of the assailant and place him in handcuffs. Jorge Ugata Roario, 24, a student from Dominican Republic, was arrested and charged with (F) Assault on a Law Enforcement Official and is currently being held on a $100,000 secured bond issued by the Judge at the First Appearance.

    How about we deport him. If he is here on a student visa revoke it and send him back! This will not make national news because the Deputy did not shoot him or taser him. I hope the Deputy is ok.
