An opening reception for the next exhibit in the Rotating Art Show< Paintings by Christina Forte and Meg Rubino, will be held in the first floor conference room of the Duck Town Hall on Wednesday, August 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. Come enjoy some light refreshments and meet the artists.
Painting keeps Christina in the moment which is a challenge that she loves. Orchestrating the core elements: drawing, values (color lighting), edges, and composition of a painting requires complete attention. Getting all the working parts to create the whole, as well as the play of light in a subject fascinates her. She strives to “paint alla prima” or wet on wet, meaning painting a layer on top of a layer that is still wet.
“It is my hope that you enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed creating it.” – Christina
Meg is a graduate of Bucknell University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor on painting. She moved to the Outer Banks permanently in 2003 after continuing her education in Studio Art at East Carolina University. She is inspired by the natural beauty of the Outer Banks and attempts to capture the good feelings that these surroundings evoke in her paintings. Meg participates in local art shows and her work can be seen in local businesses throughout the Outer Banks.
“I hope my work makes you feel good and inspires you to embrace the little joys you experience daily.”- Meg
