HIGH rip current risk south of Oregon Inlet including Pea Island, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras Village, & Ocracoke. Ocean swimming is not recommended, stay out of the water!
MODERATE rip current risk at the beaches of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water. Never swim alone and always take flotation!
Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which is around 10:05 am today.
Partly sunny skies with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures In the lower 80s with northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
