New COVID death reported in Dare

By on September 16, 2021

The Dare County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is reporting that a woman over 65 years of age succumbed to COVID-19 on Sept. 15. She becomes the 18th person to die from the virus since the pandemic was first tracked back in March 2020.

This is the first COVID fatality since late August, when a man and woman, both over 65, succumbed.

The new fatality was reported on Sept. 16, when the DHHS also reported 23 new cases of COVID along with some brighter news. Twenty residents of Dare County who had been categorized as having active cases are now considered recovered, bringing the number of active cases among residents to 163.

In addition, 3 county residents who had been hospitalized with COVID have been released, leaving 14 residents currently hospitalized from the virus.

    If there weren’t so many other gaps in all the information and statics we receive it would be surprising that there is no mention of the all important vaccination status of the recent victims.

    Disgruntled, every day from Mon-Fri. the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services posts the number of new cases and how many of them occurred among the vaccinated
    on its Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/DCDHHS/

    When are you going to post the cause of death on each and every person that passes away?
    Stop feeding into the fear and anxiety. Fear and anxiety is causing so many mental health issues including an increase of drug and alcohol abuse.

    For the real numbers, go to our state website ncdhhs.gov and they will show 11 deaths total in dare county. It has been 10 deaths for quite sometime but this paper, DCHHS, and other papers continue to report a different number. The state has no info on these other 7 deaths that dare county added.

    Hi Chris, you say for the real numbers go to the state site where it does show 11 deaths. How do you know it’s not the state site that is lagging behind in it’s bookkeeping and the Dare County numbers are the real numbers… That’s what I would suspect. Maybe you can be a go-between by calling both the state and Dare County to see why the discrepancy is there.

    I can shed light on this discrepancy. Here’s what the Dare DHHS says.

    Many patients who are diagnosed with COVID, who live in Dare County and require hospitalization are transferred to hospitals outside of Dare County for a higher level of care. If they die in another country we get notified by the hospital of their death but the death is filed/recorded by the county the patient was in at time of death. This is also the case if someone dies at a hospital in VA.

    As per usual, there is usually a reasonable explanation that people miss when they are looking for some conspiracy to obscure the facts. Covid is like a rorschach – people’s interpretation is revealing of themselves.”Stop feeding the fear and anxiety…” is like saying stop reporting the news. If you can’t deal with reality, quit reading and turn off the TV. Maybe if you bury your head in the sand long enough, the virus will vanish overnight, along with crime, and general angst. Covid, as a phenomenom, would be more bearable if it was something we all were united on. Instead it has divided us even more apart over masks and vaccines. Every anti-vaxxer had several necessary vaccines as children and it was a non-issue.

    @hightider

    Except that all of those vaccines were actually vaccines and the definition of the word wasn’t changed twice in one year to make a new definition either. Those vaccines had way more data and had been in use a long time after passing through all of the required testing and not being shoved into the market and forced on people and their children that were at extremely low risk of being infected. Stop trying to play moral arbiter for people and their children and force your personal medical decisions on others without even discussing natural immunity and much more. If you’re scared then you stay hidden and take unproven medications. Maybe since you’re so brilliant you can explain why Israel’s hospitals are so full with a much higher vaccination rate or does that not fit your politically motivated medical narrative?
