High rip current risk continues at all area beaches

HIGH rip current risk continues at all area beaches including Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Pea Island, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras Village and Ocracoke. Ocean swimming is not recommended. Obey RED Flags, stay out of the water!

Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which is around 355 pm today.

Cloudy skies with showers and a chance of thunderstorms. High temperature in the lower 80s. South winds 15 to 20 mph.
