Flynn sisters shine for MHS cross county squad

Sisters Madison and MacKenzie Flynn posted team best performances for Manteo High School at the Northeastern Coastal Conference Cross Country Meet held in Elizabeth City on Wednesday Oct. 20 and both earned all-conference honors. Sophomore Madison finished third with a time of 17:35 while her younger sister, freshman Mackenzie, came in 9th place with her 19:50 performance.

Top finishers for the men’s team were Zeke Leary who finished the course in 14th place with his 17.37 time. Braden Heard crossed the line next for the Redskins with his time of 19:11.

Other runners for the women’s team included Haley Heard (22:41), Juliette Scott (24:06) and Paige Reibel (27.24). The male runners who also competed included Zain Bhula (19:13), Grayson Lewis (19:14), Sam Head (20:02), Robert Head (22:59) and Noah Hinson (29.21).

Both teams finished fourth in team standings at the meet. The MHS runners next travel to South Lenoir High School in Deep Run, NC for their Regional competition on Saturday Oct. 30.
