Hatteras Wildlife Rehab taking in sea turtles

On the evening of Nov. 27, Hatteras Island Wildlife Rehabilitation (HIWR) posted this report on three cold-stunned turtles it had taken in the past day. The concern expressed is because, according to HIWR, the turtles usually do all right at current water temperatures.

Here is the post.

“This is number 3 for today from Hatteras. Kind of strange coming in this early since the water temperature in the sound is still 49. They usually do OK in that temp. Not sure why we’re getting them now. We had another loggerhead come in last night about this size and it was 120 pounds.”
