Shannon Twiddy

The Town of Manteo has announced the retirement of veteran municipal official Shannon Twiddy in this release on Jan. 26.

After 28 years of dedicated service to the Town of Manteo, Shannon Twiddy will be retiring March 1, 2022.  Currently, Twiddy is the Deputy Town Manager/Finance Director, but that is only one of the many different roles she has served in over the years.

She began her career in 1993 as the Town Clerk and later served as the Town Planner, Assistant Town Manager/Town Planner, Interim Town Manager, Finance Director, and Deputy Town Manager.  In addition to a BS Degree from Kennedy-Western University, Twiddy was committed to continuing her education while working for the Town completing many courses, such as Federal Emergency training and governmental accounting, and she is a graduate of the Municipal and County Administration Course offered by the University of North Carolina’s Institute of Government.

Twiddy strived to enrich the Town of Manteo, helping to meet its needs and those of its residents, visitors, staff, and volunteers alike each and every year.  While it is challenging to sum up all the years of her service and dedication to the Town, it may be more difficult to capture all the knowledge and history that she has gathered.

The Town is thankful for Mrs. Twiddy’s dedication and love of community that she has demonstrated through all her hard work and efforts.
