Elizabeth S. Lewis of Currituck County, January 28

By on January 28, 2022

Elizabeth Sherman Lewis passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 28, 2022.  Elizabeth was a resident of Currituck County, NC since 1983.  She was a dedicated member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Currituck.

She is survived by her dog, “Mammy” who was her in-house nurse; husband, Robert W. Lewis; son, Robert “Chip” Lewis; daughter-in-law, Roxanne; their four children, Courtney, John,  Anna, and James; a sister, Parker Lindsey of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Dade Sherman, Jr. of Smithfield, NC and James Sherman of Lagrange, GA; and her father, William Sherman of Fayetteville, NC.  She was predeceased by her son, Gregg Lewis and mother, Anna Sherman.

Elizabeth touched many lives.  She was known for some twenty-eight years as Mrs. Claus.  She organized a large group of people who provided Christmas for hundreds if not thousands of in need children.  Every year she started her Christmas list in October and stayed busy through Christmas Eve ensuring the delivery of their Christmas.  This, along with her family and church, were her life’s passion.  She will be dearly missed but don’t say good-bye but, rather, see you later.  Tell Gregg hey, give him a hug for us.  Love you forever and ever.  Later babe.

Twiford Funeral Home, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909 is serving the Lewis family.  Online memorial condolences may be sent to the family at www.TwifordFH.com.  To plant a tree in memory of Mrs. Lewis or to send flowers to the family, please visit www.TwifordFH.com/send-flowers.
