MHS athletes stand out at conference championships

Northeastern Coastal Conference Championships Girls 1600 meter results: Manteo’s Madison Flynn finished 1st; First Flight’s Tatum Dermatas took 2nd and Camden’s Keeley Williams finished 3rd.
Northeastern Coastal Conference Championships Girls 4-x-400 meter results: Camden finished 1st; Manteo took 2nd and Currituck finished 3rd.
Northeastern Coastal Conference Championships Girls 3200 meter results: Currituck’s Kylee Dinterman finished 1st; Manteo’s Madison Flynn placed second and First Flight’s Alexa Hallac finished 3rd.
Northeastern Coastal Conference Championships Boys Pole Vault results: Manteo’s Isaac Jarvis came in 1st; Hart Vandzura placed 2nd and Jordan Stokes finished 3rd.
Northeastern Coastal Conference Championships Girls Pole Vault results: Jayden Bailey finished 1st and Caroline Gay placed 2nd.

Here are the results for the Manteo Highs School stars who competed in the May 4 Northeastern Coastal Conference Championships in track and field.

Isaac Jarvis won boys pole vault, Hart Vandzura took 2nd in the pole vault and Jordan Stokes finished 3rd in pole vault. In the girls competition, Jayden Bailey won the pole vault with a new school record of 7’1” and Caroline Gay took 2nd in the pole vault.

Madison Flynn took 3rd in 800m, and she won the 1600m with a new school record of 5:39.11, In addition, she finished 2nd in the 3200m. The girls 4x400m relay of Jayden Bailey, Jasiya Burton-Bailey, Haley Heard, and Caroline Gay took 2nd place.

 

 

 



NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING TO REVIEW PLANS FOR AN OUTER BANKS EVENT CENTER

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Visitors Bureau will hold a public meeting to review the plans for an Outer Banks Event Center. The meeting will take place on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Keeper’s Galley building at Haven on the Banks, 115 Dove Street, Nags Head North Carolina 27959.

Still in the conceptual phase, the Event Center is intended to provide suitable and flexible space for year-round events, concerts, sports, meetings, smaller tradeshows, galas and any number of other uses. Learn more about the benefits for visitors and residents and how the Event Center is planned to complement the new Soundside boardwalk that is being designed.
