Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) is pleased to announce that the National Park Service has signed a 10-year lease with Koru Village, Inc. to provide for the continued maintenance of the Seashore’s Avon Fishing Pier, located in Avon, N.C. The lease begins on June 1.

The National Park Service received multiple proposals in response to a Request for Proposals (RFP) to lease the Avon Fishing Pier and selected Koru Village, Inc. as the best responsive proposal in accordance with the selection criteria published in the RFP.

Koru Village, Inc., may use the Avon Fishing Pier for the following purposes regarding operation of an ocean fishing pier and provision of associated goods and services:

  1. Sale of passes for fishing and sightseeing;
  2. Sale of retail and convenience items;
  3. Sale of food and beverage items (non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages) to include restaurant and bar services; and
  4. Special events, such as fishing tournaments

“Entering into a 10-year lease with Koru Village, Inc. is significant because it allows the continued operation of an important visitor attraction at Cape Hatteras National Seashore,” said David Hallac, superintendent, National Parks of Eastern North Carolina. “The day-to-day management and maintenance of the Avon Fishing Pier is in great hands.”
