Congratulations to Leilany Hernandez, an eighth grader at First Flight Middle School (FFMS) who just competed at the Adidas Track Nationals in Greensboro and placed 6th in the nation in the discus event, earning the first medal for any FFMS athlete at that event.

Aside from winning at Greensboro, she broke the FFMS girls’ discus record three times during the school’s track season and placed 3rd in the state championships. Some of the girls from the First Flight Middle School track team traveled all the way to Greensboro and back in one day to cheer on their teammate. Hernandez’s family, including five siblings, was there as well, making her only discus athlete at Adidas Nationals with a cheering squad!
