As of 5 p.m., June 23, the Ferebee Road Fire is 1,088 acres and at 12% contained.
Personnel continue efforts to improve containment lines. Crews continue working to stage and move water to the fire. High volume water handling operations are expected to begin over the next two days with pump site installations at New Lake and Phelps Lake.
Operational resources working the fire include 58 personnel from the N.C. Forest Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
June 22, 2022: N.C. Forest Service personnel continue work on the Ferebee Road Fire in Hyde County. The fire is 615 acres and 25% contained. Smoke production is increasing daily, indicating ground fire is well established. Crews continue strengthening firelines and moving water to the area. Updated information will be shared as it becomes available.
