OBAR REALTORS® Participate in National Ethics Day with Leigh Brown

Nags Head, NC – OBAR REALTORS® gathered at College of the Albemarle’s new state of the art media room, to participate in National Ethics Day with Leigh Brown via livestream last week.  Since 2018, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has hosted National Ethics Day, allowing REALTORS® the opportunity to satisfy the association’s Code of Ethics (CoE) training requirement.  Members must complete a minimum of 2.5 hours of CoE training every three years to maintain membership.  This requirement sets REALTORS® apart from other real estate licensees.  The current NAR Code of Ethics Requirement Cycle 7 began January 1, 2022 and ends on December 31, 2024.  The event was locally sponsored by OBAR Diamond Partner First Bank with NC REALTORS® covering the registration for all NC REALTOR® members.

Leigh Brown is a successful REALTOR®, bestselling author, educator, international speaker, and influencer from Concord, NC. She is the owner of Leigh Brown & Associates, as well as Leigh Brown University, and a member of Central Carolina Association of REALTORS® Inc.  Currently Vice President of the North Carolina Association of REALTORS® (NCR), she will be the President of the state association starting in January of 2023.

 

The difference between a REALTOR® and a Real Estate Agent.

Yes, there IS a difference between a REALTOR® and a Real Estate Agent.  The term REALTOR® is a trademarked brand which denotes membership with the National Association of REALTORS®.  Being a member of NAR requires membership in a local and state association.  REALTORS® are held to a higher standard than other real estate licensees by agreeing to follow NAR’s Code of Ethics.  The code outlines duties to the clients, fellow REALTORS® and the public.

REALTORS® have access to at least one local or regional multiple listing site (MLS) that provides the most accurate listing information for local homes for sale. In addition, they have access to all current local and state real estate forms.  Being a REALTORS® provides Brokers with unlimited professional development allowing them to continually expand their knowledge better serve their client’s needs.  This includes designations, certifications, and other useful training options that are exclusive to members.
