Rev. Roger Butts.

The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Outer Banks transition team has announced that a new minister, Rev. Roger Butts of Colorado Springs, will soon be joining the congregation. He follows Rev. David Morris who retired in late June after seven years in the pulpit.

Rev. Butts is an ordained UU minister who has served in a variety of roles in his twenty years of ministry: as a full-time minister, transitional minister, as well as seven years in chaplaincy including intense pastoral care during the pandemic. He is also the author of “Seeds of Devotion” and a believer in finding common ground upon which to lay seeds of healing and progress. He will be joining UUCOB as a part-time minister for the first time on September 18th for the annual Water Communion service, and the UUCOB welcomes him into its shared ministry with open arms. There will be a reception after this 10:30 am service for people to meet Roger on an informal basis, and as always, the public is invited to attend the service and/or the reception.

On summer break, to rest and revitalize, the UUCOB will not hold services from July 31-Aug 21, but will resume Sunday worship at the meeting house on August 28th when they welcome Chris Sawin of the Outer Banks Community Foundation as guest speaker.

The UUCOB is a “small congregation with a big heart. Its mission is fostering wonder, creating connections, nurturing hope, and working for justice.” For more information, please visit their website at www.uucob.org.
