HE’S BACK! A very familiar radio voice and face along the Outer Banks is making a return to local radio airwaves. Michael E. Smith (Best known to radio listeners as “Moose”) is making his way back to the microphone on 96.7 The Coast. Moose takes over the Coast Wake up Show from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. beginning Tuesday Sept. 6.

Smith (aka “Moose”), a native North Carolinian, made his first trip to the Outer Banks with his family at the age of five. Moose’s career in radio broadcasting took him from his hometown of Henderson, N.C. to Raleigh, Winston-Salem and Virginia Beach before coming to the Outer Banks for good in 2002 as manager of a group of radio stations, as well as the morning co-host on Beach 104.

His community involvement includes First Flight Rotary, Past President of The First Flight Society, a founding member of the Outer Banks Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Coalition and includes the non-profit group Outer Banks Forever.

Smith says “I am stoked to be back on the radio on the Outer Banks and eastern NC. I just hope people remember me.”
