Wind and High Surf Advisories, Coastal Flood Warning in effect starting Monday, Oct. 3

The following Advisories that will impact the Outer Banks starting on Monday, Oct. 3 have been issued from the National Weather Service at Newport/Morehead City.

A Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3. North winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected in East Carteret County, Northern Outer Banks, Ocracoke and Hatteras Islands nexpected.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

There is also a High Surf Advisory in effect from 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. A Coastal Flood Warning is effect from noon on Monday, Oct. 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5.

For the Coastal Flood Warning, expect 2 to 4 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to 8 feet expected in the surf zone.

The Coastal Flood Warning and High Surf Advisory are in effect for Hatteras Island and the Northern Outer Banks.
