Dare County teams to host semi-final contests on Nov. 15.

SCHEDULE ALERT:  Due to the weather forecast, the Manteo High and First Flight High men’s soccer East Regional Championship soccer games have been moved to Wednesday night at 6 p.m.


The Manteo High and First Flight High men’s soccer teams have both advanced to the Regional Finals after winning their nail-biting Nov. 10 fourth-round games that ended tied after regulation.

After playing to a 2-2 draw in regulation, Manteo outlasted previously unbeaten James Kenan in the game-deciding shootout, 5-4. No. 3 seed Manteo will now host No. 4 Clinton in the 2A Regionals on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.

After their fourth-round game against No. 6 seed Carrboro ended in a 1-1 tie, No. 2 seed First Flight won in extra time to capture a 5-3 win. That propels the team into the 3A Regionals where it will host No. 8 seed Jacksonville on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.

Both local high school squads are now two wins away from bringing a State Championship to Dare County.
