Frank M. Crank, Sr. of South Mills, November 15

Frank Milton Crank, Sr., 69, of South Mills, NC died Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at his residence.  He was born October 5, 1953, in Nassawadox, Virginia to the late Vernon Crank, Sr., and Lois Marie Sawyer Crank.  He was an airframe structural engineer at the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Base and attended Ebenezer Baptist Church.  He loved serving as a civil service employee at the Coast Guard Base for seventeen years.  He loved being outdoors, working on the family farm, and hunting with his son.

He is survived by a son, Frank Milton Crank, Jr. and wife Stephanie and their children, Sophie, Sawyer, Sadie, and Stella of South Mills, NC; a daughter, Caroline L. Cullens and husband Jordan, and their daughters Madison and Emily of Fuquay Varina, NC; and, a sister, Linda Crank Chambers of Elizabeth City, NC; and a close friend, Ronnie Wayne Raper. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Vernon Crank, Jr., and the mother of his children, Donna Cartwright Crank.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Darryl Stallings officiating.   Private burial will follow in the Crank Family Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.twifordfh.com/frank-milton-crank-sr/. NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS:  BIDDER PRE-QUALIFICATION REQUEST:  Barnhill Contracting has been selected as the Construction Manager at Risk by Dare County and is seeking to pre-qualify construction trade and specialty contractors to submit bids for furnishing Labor, Material, Equipment, and Other for the new “Dare County – EMS 1 / Fire Station 14” (KDH) located in Kill Devil Hills, NC.  PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The scope of the project encompasses approximately 36,000 sqft of new construction and 18,000 sqft of demolition on a 3.5-acre site located at the 1630 N Croatan Highway, Kill Devil Hills, NC. The project includes masonry bearing walls supporting a Standing Seam Metal Roof over Light Gauge Trusses housing administrative, living and support spaces along with 6 apparatus bays. Principal trade and specialty contractors are solicited for the following Bid Packages: BP750 – Turnkey Siding. Additional Packages may be added and/or deleted at the discretion of the Construction Manager. Historically underutilized business participation is encouraged.
