Water leak in Buxton repaired, but customers advised to boil water

Dare County has just reported that as of 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, repairs have been completed on a water leak that occurred between Conner’s Supermarket and the north end of Buxton on Hatteras Island. The impacted area of the water system will be flushed and returned to normal operation.

The roughly 50 customers in the affected area are advised to boil all water used for human consumption or use bottled water. The System Pressure Advisory will be lifted on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. If there are any issues, customers will be notified of a continued advisory. Customers may experience periods of low pressure and discolored water until full service has been restored.
