Daredevils return to OBX, will play at Manteo High

Summer collegiate baseball team to host 30 games at Coy Tillett Field

The Outer Banks Daredevils are excited to announce they will be returning to Coy Tillett Sr. Memorial Field, located on the campus of Manteo High School, for the upcoming 2023 summer season.

The Daredevils played their first 10 seasons at Manteo High before moving over to First Flight High, and following our pandemic related hiatus, we are extremely happy to be bringing the Daredevils back home to Manteo and its first-class facilities.

The Daredevils will be competing in the Premier Collegiate League, along with our former CPL rival, the Edenton Steamers, playing a 42-game regular schedule this summer. The season begins on June 1, 2023, and runs through the end of July, immediately followed by the league’s Postove Cup Championship Tournament, which will run through Aug. 5.  The Daredevils will be hosting 30 regular season home games this summer at Coy Tillet Field and look forward to seeing all our loyal fans back out at the ballpark this summer.

The team is also excited to announce some new additions for the 2023 season. Jason Howell has been named team President. Coach Howell is currently an assistant baseball coach at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, following his professional career and outstanding collegiate career. Meredith Howell has been named team Vice President. Mrs. Howell is a real estate professional who will be assisting with various aspects of our operations. Zach Alexander has been named head coach for the 2023 season. Coach Alexander is currently the head coach at Manteo High, following seven years serving as an assistant coach at North Carolina Wesleyan. Rev. Marc O’Neal has agreed to serve as team chaplain. Rev. O’Neal is the pastor of Mount Olivet UMC in Manteo, NC.

Additional announcements will be made in the coming days, including our home schedule, season tickets and individual game ticket sales information as well as other staff who will be joining us this summer.
