The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Outer Banks (UUCOB) invites the public to a film and discussion night. We will view a 15-minute TEDX talk by Hasan Kwame Jeffries entitled “Why We Must Confront the Painful Parts of U.S. History,” followed by a conversation facilitated by Rev. Roger Butts. This will be the third session of the UUCOB “Community Conversations” series that encourages a respectful exchange of ideas about critical issues impacting our lives.

The event will occur on Thursday, March 30th, at 7:00 pm at the UUCOB meetinghouse, 831 Herbert Perry Road, Kitty Hawk (located at the corner of Kitty Hawk and Herbert Perry Roads).

Hasan Kwame Jeffries teaches, researches, and writes about the African American experience from a historical perspective. Hasan graduated from Morehouse College with a B.A. in history. He earned a Ph.D. in American history with a specialization in African American history from Duke University. He is an associate professor of history in the Department of History at The Ohio State University.
