First Friday Book Signing with Matthew Quick at Downtown Books

First Fridays are back at Downtown Books and on Friday, April 7, the 2023 author signing season kicks off with a First Friday Book Signing featuring New York Times best-selling author Matthew Quick. Matthew’s latest novel, We Are the Light, arrived in bookstores on November 1, the same day he did a launch event with Downtown Books in Nags Head before heading across the country on book tour.

We Are the Light¬†is a very timely and moving story about a small town in the wake of tragedy- a Christmastime mass shooting in a beloved historic theatre- but brings a strong message of hope to its readers. Authors such as Mitch Albom and Harlan Coben provided jacket blurbs for Quick, he was a featured author at the Texas Book Festival and the Virginia Festival of the Book and We Are the Light is the upcoming choice for One Book One City in Powder Springs, Ga.

Matthew will be signing copies of We Are the Light, meeting fans and greeting friends from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Downtown Books located at 103 Sir Walter Raleigh Street in Manteo.

His previous titles including The Silver Linings Playbook will also be on hand. First Friday is a fun, free family friendly event that takes place throughout downtown Manteo featuring live music, restaurant specials, later shop hours, trunk shows, art openings, book signings and more. BIDDER PRE-QUALIFICATION REQUEST:

Barnhill Building Group has been selected as the Construction Manager @ Risk by the College of the Albemarle and is seeking to pre-qualify construction trade contractors to submit bids for the furnishing labor, materials, equipment, and tools for the new College of The Albemarle – Allied Health Sciences Simulation Lab (COA Health Sciences) located in Elizabeth City, NC. Please note: Only subcontractors who have been prequalified by Barnhill will be able to submit a Bid.

The project consists of the new construction of a 38,000-sf, 2-story expansion to the existing Owens Health Sciences Center and will house classrooms, labs, and a simulation lab. The site is just over just over 4.5 acres and is located on an active campus. This new construction will be a steel structure with a brick and metal panel veneer, curtainwall, and storefront glazing with a PVC roof membrane.

Sussex Development is soliciting bids to turnkey supply and install FF&E for the new Tulls Creek Elementary School, 125 Campus Drive, Moyock, NC27929. This project is a new ground-up 2-story, Pre-K thru 5th grade school, approximately 118,000 square feet. Bid documents may be obtained through Christopher West Interiors LLC.
