Ervin Carlton Adams, Sr., 84, of Moyock, NC, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023. Born on August 13, 1938, in Shawboro, NC, he was the son of the late Samuel Elwood Adams and Levert Jones Adams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Janis Whitehead Adams; sons, Carlton Adams, Jr. (Ruthie) of VA and Steven Adams (Jinnie) of TX; grandchildren, Chelsea Adams (Mike) of VA, Brent Roberts (Samantha) of TX; and step-grandson, Heath Roberts. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin L. Adams.
Ervin was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent his career as a Pipefitter at the Naval Shipyard, retiring in 2000 after many years of service. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his profession. His colleagues respected him for his knowledge and expertise in his field.
A man of strong faith, Ervin was a devoted member of Moyock Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was passionate about helping others and took great pride in his service to the church and the community. His selflessness and dedication to his faith were an inspiration to all who knew him.
In addition to his commitment to his faith and work, Ervin was an avid motorcyclist and a proud member of the Gold Wing Club. He enjoyed spending time with fellow club members, participating in rides and events, and exploring the open road on his motorcycle. This passion brought him joy and a sense of adventure throughout his life.
Ervin was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always made his family his top priority. He was a thoughtful and caring man who took great pride in providing for his loved ones and ensuring their happiness. His gentle nature and warm smile will be remembered by all who knew him.
In his later years, Ervin enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and happiness. He took great pride in their accomplishments and cherished the memories they made together. His love for his family was evident in the time and care he devoted to them.
A funeral service will be held at Moyock Baptist Church, 123 Oak Street, Moyock, NC 27958 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 with the Rev. Vic Ramsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Moyock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Moyock Baptist Church.
