The Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA) is proud to announce that the 86th Season of The Lost Colony, presented by PNC Bank, begins on June 2, 2023.

The Lost Colony is a long-standing Outer Banks tradition and has undergone relevant and much needed enhancements over the past two seasons. The mystery of The Lost Colony remains the same, and the updated performance preserves the original script written by Paul Green.

Jeff Whiting, Director and Choreographer, has orchestrated a team of notable creative professionals to accomplish the reimagined version of the historical drama. The show features new scene designs, spectacular projections and special effects. Lighting and sound technology has come a long way and Whiting’s team has created a memorable experience.

“It’s such an honor to be entrusted to direct this beautiful production which is filled with so much historical significance and universal hope. The cast is immensely talented and it’s thrilling to see them breathing life into these historical figures in such a powerful way. I look forward to sharing this story with audiences each night,” said Whiting.

The 86th season will also feature, for the second year, the Native American Pre-Show performance by indigenous members of the cast, on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Executive Director Chuck Still along with the Roanoke Island Historical Association acknowledge that the upgrades and enhancements would not have been possible without support and significant donations and grants.

“From what I have seen in rehearsals, I’m thrilled with what Jeff and his team are bringing to this year’s performance. You are not going to want to miss it,” Still declared.

The Lost Colony’s 86th season begins June 2nd and runs through August 26th, 2023. The show begins at 8:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday at Waterside Theatre on Roanoke Island. Tickets start at $25. For more information visit www.thelostcolony.org. or call (252) 473-2127.
