The National Park Service posted this release about the May 18 celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Ocracoke Light Station.

Here is the information.

“Yesterday, park staff gathered with over 500 visitors on a beautiful day to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Ocracoke Light Station. Thank you to all our partners, visitors and the Ocracoke community in celebrating this amazing milestone and honoring the role the light station continues to play in the community and its continued function as an active aid to navigation.

The celebration is not over: check out go.nps.gov/ocracoke to stay up to date on future events throughout the season.
