Nelda Catherine Keeton Wescott, 86, passed away May 17, 2023. A native of Lawrenceville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Viola Keeton. She had worked as a dental assistant, a nurse for the neonatal unit at CHKD in Norfolk, Virginia, and an infant caregiver at Better Beginnings in Kitty Hawk, NC. She was a member of Mighty Wind United Methodist Church.
Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Wescott, Sr. of Manteo, NC. She is survived by her sons, George O. Wescott, Jr. (Skip) and Kevin L. Wescott and wife Luba; five grandchildren, Vonnie Wescott, Gigi Wescott, McKenzie Johnson, Ben Wescott and Lauren Carlton; and two great granddaughters, Bailey Beall and Elsie Carlton. She is also survived by her brother, William Keeton and wife Brenda, her sister-in-law, Joanie Keeton and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Ed Keeton and Robert Keeton.
A celebration of life will be held at the Old Nags Head Cove Clubhouse on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
