With every playoff win, the Manteo High School women’s soccer team has faced a more difficult opponent. In each of their last two matches, the group has raised its level of play. In the May 22 third-round playoff contest against East Carteret, they may have played one of their best games of the season, moving the team’s unbeaten record to 22-0-2 with a decisive 11-2 win.

Manteo dominated every facet of the game. And were it not for a couple of soft goals against, Manteo’s first half would have been just about perfect, as the team led 7-2 at the halfway mark. Jordon Cobb scored first. Kenzie Flynn netted a hat trick. Kiley Eckard contributed with two scores, and CC Lowe added one of her own.

In the second half, Cobb and Flynn scored one more each, and Lowe rounded it out with two additional goals.

Manteo now moves on to the fourth round of the 2023 NCHSAA 2A Women’s Soccer Championships with a contest against Raleigh Charter (14-4) on Thursday, May 25. The time and location have yet to be determined.
