The Dare County’s Sheriff’s Office has issued this Aug. 17 release about an investigation into the death of a man found in his home in Hatteras.
Here are the details.
At approximately 12:49 p.m. on Aug. 16, Deputies with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, Dare County EMS, and Hatteras Island Rescue were dispatched to a call for service in the area of the 57000 block of Kohler Drive in Hatteras. The Deputies made contact with a person and comments were made about a body in a residence. When deputies arrived at the residence, they located Luther Dudley Burrus III deceased in his residence.
Investigators from the Dare County Sheriff’s Office and a Medical Examiner responded to the scene and conducted a death investigation. The cause of death in this case is currently unknown pending an autopsy which is expected to occur later this week. The Investigation is continuing.
