High rip current risk from Duck to Buxton, moderate south of Cape Hatteras

September 6 Morning Beach Conditions

HIGH rip current risk persists at the beaches of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Pea Island, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Ocean conditions will bring powerful rip currents from Duck to Buxton. Ocean swimming is not recommended, stay out of the water!

MODERATE rip current risk south of Cape Hatteras including Frisco, Hatteras Village and Ocracoke. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water. Never swim alone, always take flotation!

Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which occurred at 6:55 am with the next low around 8:15 pm today.

Sunny to mostly sunny skies today with temperatures in the upper 80s. Northwest winds around 5 mph. In the afternoon wind becomes east on the northern beaches and south on Hatteras Island. Water temperatures: Duck Pier‚Ķ76. Oregon Inlet Marina…80. Avon Pier…78.

Ocean Rescue staffing is at off season levels. Many beaches that had lifeguard stands are now unguarded or covered by a roving patrol.

BIDDER PRE-QUALIFICATION REQUEST:

Barnhill Building Group has been selected as the Construction Manager @ Risk by the College of the Albemarle and is seeking to pre-qualify construction trade contractors to submit bids for the furnishing labor, materials, equipment, and tools for the new College of The Albemarle – Allied Health Sciences Simulation Lab (COA Health Sciences) located in Elizabeth City, NC. Please note: Only subcontractors who have been prequalified by Barnhill will be able to submit a Bid.

The project consists of the new construction of a 38,000-sf, 2-story expansion to the existing Owens Health Sciences Center and will house classrooms, labs, and a simulation lab. The site is just over just over 4.5 acres and is located on an active campus. This new construction will be a steel structure with a brick and metal panel veneer, curtainwall, and storefront glazing with a PVC roof membrane.

Sussex Development is soliciting bids to turnkey supply and install FF&E for the new Tulls Creek Elementary School, 125 Campus Drive, Moyock, NC27929.
