Paddle Out Ceremony for Delbert Melton on September 16

Delbert’s family appreciates the surfing community doing a Paddle Out on Saturday the 16th of September.  Looks like SURF’s UP!  If it is too much wave action for a Paddle Out, we will honor Delbert’s memory on Shore.

Before Delbert’s ashes are carried out to Sea, the family wants to share a prayer and stories about Del, Bert, Bear, Grizzly, Wild Man, and any other name you know him by. Plan to arrive early between 10:30-11:00.  The memorial begins at 11:00 a.m. Parking is permitted for East Bonnet Street and Virginia Dare Trail, and the School Parking Lot.

His mother Darlene and siblings Dee Guillory (Mark) of Gloucester, VA, Allan Melton (Melonie) of Poquoson, VA, and Cleve Melton (Cheryl) of Smithfield, VA.  Aunts, Uncles, and Cousin’s will attend also.

Friends are invited to linger and enjoy some food while reminiscing of his antics. Feel free to share your stories and memories of a unique carefree character. He cherished many friendships, and watched young surfers grow in their capabilities and professions.  The Paddle Out Memorial is on a beach, so bring lawn chairs & coolers of your favorite beverages.
