Dorothy Sue Kilgore Hilton of Elizabeth City, NC peacefully passed away on September 11, 2023, in Elizabeth City, NC at the age of 74.
Born on March 17, 1949 to Harold Kilgore and Dorothy Copes Kilgore, Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife to Robert E. Hilton. Dorothy’s unwavering love and support for Robert were a true testament to their enduring marriage. Together, they shared a bond built on trust, laughter, and a shared journey through life’s ups and downs.
A very caring person, she brought warmth and joy to her family and friends throughout her life. Her kind and gentle spirit touched the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her biggest accomplishment in life was being a mother and raising her children.
Dorothy loved flowers and was very creative, enjoying painting, sewing, and cross-stitching,
While Dorothy’s life was not defined by her professional accomplishments or public recognition, she was the heart and soul of her family. Her presence brought comfort and stability to her loved ones, and her unwavering dedication to her husband was an inspiration to all.
Dorothy will forever be missed and cherished by her husband, Robert E. Hilton; her children, Laura Jean Bondi (Joe), Debi Tice (Marty), Joey Sutherland (Cindy), and Ben Sutherland (Lisa); her sisters, Brenda and Cathy; her brother, Harold; her grandchildren, Brylee, David, Logan, Trevor, Courtney, Megan, and Zion; and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Peggy.
A graveside service will be held at Princess Anne Memorial Park Cemetery in Virginia Beach, VA at a date to be announced.
