How to apply for slot on KDH Board of Commissioners

By on December 20, 2023

Decision on who will fill open seat slated for Feb. 5

(Kill Devil Hills Town Hall)

In Kill Devil Hills, there is still one piece of important business left over from the local elections in November. That’s the appointment of a new town commissioner to fill the vacancy created when Commissioner John Windley—whose term was not set to expire until 2025—defeated incumbent Ben Sproul in the mayor’s race last month.

That identity of the new commissioner won’t be known until the board of commissioners chooses someone to fill the post at its Feb. 5, 2024 meeting. And the Town of Kill Devil Hills has released the qualifications and instructions for those interested in competing for the job, with the deadline for submitting applications on Jan. 16 at 5 p.m.

Here is the information.

Applications are now being accepted from persons interested in being considered for appointment to the open seat on the Kill Devil Hills Board of Commissioners. Potential candidates must reside within Kill Devil Hills corporate limits and must complete an application in order to be considered; a résumé may be submitted with the completed application.

An application may be completed
  • On the Town’s website at www.kdhnc.com.
  • Mailed to the Office of the Town Clerk, P.O. Box 1719, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948.
  •  Delivered to: Office of the Town Clerk, 102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills.

A paper application may be obtained by emailing info@kdhnc.com, from the Office of the Town Clerk, 102 Town Hall Drive, or from the Kill Devil Hills Branch of the Dare County Library, 400 Mustian Street.

Anyone with questions about this appointment process is asked to contact James Michael O’Dell, Kill Devil Hills Town Clerk, at odell@kdhnc.com or 252-449-5300.

Merry Christmas to you too Shontae. Rather than make a racial comment like yours, if you’re really local, maybe you could be a go getter and run for you seat yourself if you don’t care for the color and age of those on the current board?

Thats enough being a meany for me today, off to take a walk, pick up some trash and spread holiday cheer!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! Toodles!
