Internet outages flagged by Currituck County, Nags Head officials

Around noon on Friday, Feb. 9, two local governments put out messages blaming outages on communications problems with county and town offices and services.

Here are the statements.

“A cut telephone fiber line in Dare County is affecting telephone and internet service in Currituck County government offices. The 911 Communications Center is still operating. 911 calls could route through the Pasquotank Camden Communications Center, but that will not delay any emergency services response.

The 911 Communications Center’s administrative line, 252-453-3633is not in service at this time. Crews are working to restore the fiber line, estimating approximately 4:00 (p.m.) this afternoon. Updates to service will be provided as information becomes available.

The town of Nags Head reported on its Facebook page that “due to an Internet outage that is impacting the area, you may have problems reaching our Town offices today. We are open.”
