In a special meet and greet event, parents, players, and community members are invited to support new head coach of the Manteo High School football team, Timmy Charity. The event will be held on Monday, Feb. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Dare County Shrine Club, 111 Old NC Highway 345 in Manteo.

Charity was announced as the new football coach on Feb. 13.  In 2013, he took on the role of the head football coach at Manteo Middle School. He served as an assistant basketball coach at Manteo High School from 2013 to 2016 and was named head coach of that program in 2018. In 2016, he became head JV football coach at Manteo High School and in 2019, he was appointed as the defensive coordinator for the varsity football team.

Charity expressed excitement about the community meet and greet, stating that, “This event is not just about introducing me as the head coach of the Redskins; it’s about bringing the community together to support me and the football program. I must try and help build this program back up. It will take great efforts from coaches, players, supporting staff, and the community of Manteo.”

He continued, “Our biggest goal is to get as many kids as possible back out on the field and enjoying Manteo football. One of my personal goals is to get our program back to the mentality, heart, and hustle we played with back in my high school days here at MHS.”

Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Charity emphasized that “although the road ahead will be tough, we plan to make strides at bringing back a winning culture to Manteo.”
