No threat to safety found after report at Moyock Middle School

On Feb. 26, the Currituck County Schools posted this report on its Facebook page concerning a potential threat at the Moyock Middle School. Here is the release.

Currituck County Schools is releasing the following information as part of our commitment to ensuring communication with our families and safety in our schools.

Today, Moyock Middle School administration received a report concerning a student potentially possessing an inappropriate item while on campus. The administration responded appropriately by immediately involving law enforcement and investigating the report. During the investigation, school staff and law enforcement found there to be no threat to the safety and security of the students or staff at Moyock Middle School. Appropriate disciplinary measures are being taken.

District officials would like to thank those who took the appropriate steps to contact school administration with their concerns. Our top priority is the safety of our students and staff, and we work diligently daily to provide safe learning environments, not tolerating any factors risking such.

As always, we appreciate the efforts of local law enforcement as we all work together to keep our students, staff and schools safe
