“The Count”
May 31, 1957 – February 26, 2024

Mark Williams of Spot Road, North Carolina died unexpectedly on February 26, 2024 from natural causes. Mark was only 66 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden loss.

Mark was born on May 31, 1957 in Bluefield, West Virginia, and graduated from Giles High in Pearisburg, Virginia and then attended new River Valley community college in Dublin, Virginia. He moved on to Houston Texas where he worked as an industrial electrician and later back to Virginia. Mark could pick up pretty much anything he put his mind to. He always tracked music, being the first to ‘discover’ new artists and revive old ones. He could come up with an appropriate lyric at any moment.

He loved his nephews and nieces and got to spend his last best years surrounded by all of them; Angie, Jennifer, Sheffey, Katie, Cammy, Christopher, Heather, Matt, Julie, Oaka and Cora. He also had a multitude of great nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Buretta “Wuzzy” Johnson-Williams; and his youngest brother, Butch Williams. He is survived by his father, Jack C Williams (Hazel) of Blacksburg, Virginia; sister, Debbi (Reese) Evans of Spot, NC; sister Jacki (Mike) Mitchell of Blacksburg, VA; sister, Theresa (Gerry) Scarborough of Point Harbor, NC; and sister, Cindy (Kenny) McGuire of White Gate, VA.

Memorial service will be Friday, March 1, 2024 at 1 PM at the home of Debbi and Reese Evans. An additional service will be planned for later in his beloved Giles County, Virginia.

We all think that Mark’s final words might be a quote from the John Prine song, “Hello in there.”

Please share an expression of grace with the family at Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
