In an exciting away game on Friday, March 1, the No. 9 seed First Flight Nighthawks secured a victory over the No. 8 North Brunswick Scorpions in the second round of the NC State 3A basketball tournament by a final score of 72-61. Junior Mason Dobie had an outstanding performance with a season-high 41 points, while Senior Burke Powers contributed 11 points. Head Coach Chad Williams said, “It was a great team win against a good team in a tough place to play.

Looking ahead, the Nighthawks are set for another challenging road game on Tuesday, March 5, facing the No. 1-seeded Swansboro Pirates, who hold an impressive 26-game winning streak. This upcoming game is a rematch from January 6, when First Flight hosted the Pirates at home, narrowly losing with a final score of 67-60. The game tips off at 7 p.m.
