John “Jack” Perlinger

John “Jack” Perlinger, age 88, of Renfrew, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 while under the care of the Butler VA Community Living Center where he had been a resident for over two years. Prior to being a resident at CLC, Jack was proud to be the builder of his home in Renfrew where he lived for over 40 years.

Born May 3, 1935, in Sharpsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary Blakely Perlinger.

Jack graduated from North Catholic High School in 1953. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 during the Korean Conflict. Jack was a 58 year member of the I.U.O.E. Local #66. His family could rely on his ability to fix anything. Jack enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and going to the beach, especially to Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Daytona Beach, FL. He was the life of the party with a great sense of humor, and a man who did things his own way. Jack will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Jack enjoyed 40+ years as a summer resident of the Outer Banks. He spent his days looking for treasures on the beach, crabbing in Collington Harbor, fishing at Avalon Pier and fishing excursions out of Oregon Inlet. His favorite spots to dine were Art’s Place and Black Pelican. Jack truly treasured his time on the Outer Banks.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 46 years, Patricia Murray Walsh Perlinger, whom he married on July 15, 1977; his children, Gary (Tanya) Walsh, Maureen W. (Stephen) Whitfield, Tricia Walsh, Cathy (Ron) Coles, John W. Perlinger, and Cindy (Rick) Krampe; his grandchildren, Caitlin and Colin Whitfield, Ronnie Coles, Jackie (Steve) Bielich, Danny Coles, and Tommy (Sydney) Coles; his great-grandchildren, Vivian and Harrison Bielich, Quentin John Bielich, Charlotte Coles and one on the way; his sister-in-law, Mickey Perlinger; many nieces and nephews, and his brothers and sisters in I.U.O.E. Local #66.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline; his brother, Bill Perlinger, and sister-in-law, Sally; and his brother, Jim Perlinger.

Friends were received for visitation from 3-7 P.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Twp., Inc., 856 Evans City Rd., Renfrew, PA 16053.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 A.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church – All Saints Parish, 125 Buttercup Rd., Butler, PA 16001. Full military honors will be rendered at church immediately after Mass.

A committal service was held at 10 A.M. on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the chapel at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1019 Sharps Hill Rd., Pittsburgh (Sharpsburg), PA 15215.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jack’s honor to the Butler VA Community Living Center, by check payable to: Butler VA Healthcare, with ATTN: Recreation Therapy/ Community Living Center in the memo line, and mailed to: VA Butler Healthcare, ATTN: Recreation Therapy/ Community Living Center, 353 North Duffy Road, Butler, PA 16001; to your local food bank, or to your charity of choice.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff and personnel at the Butler VA CLC for taking such exceptional care of Jack.
