Manteo men blitz Bear Grass 9-0 in tennis

The Manteo Men’s Varsity Tennis Team welcomed Bear Grass on Tuesday, March 19. Despite cooler temperatures and gusty winds, Manteo played very well, defeating Bear Grass 9-0 and improving its overall record to 3-3 losses

‚ÄėThe team worked on consistency and playing a complete match without losing focus during games,‚Äô according to coach Emily DiNoto. Senior Jack Gregory led the team as the No. 1 singles player and as part of the No.1 doubles team with Finn Curles.¬†

Gregory won his singles match versus Nick Mizell of Bear Grass 6-2, 6-1. He and Curles won their doubles match versus Mizell and Mason Camacho 8-0.

Here are the results for the other singles matches.¬†Sam Cage of Manteo beat Mason Camacho of Bear Grass 6-0, 6-1.¬† Finn Curles beat Exum Taylor 6-0, 6-1.¬† Jakub Srodecki defeated Hayden Sutton 6-0, 6-1. Grey O’Neal bested Austin Gibbs 6-1, 6-6 (7-5).¬†Jackson Donahue beat Tanner Harrison 6-0, 6-3.

In the other two doubles matches, Cage and Srodecki defeated Taylor and Sutton 8-1, and O’Neal and Donahue beat Gibbs and Harrison 8-0.
