The are hints that today’s 15th Annual KidsFest, held on Friday, May 10 and sponsored by Children & Youth Partnership (CYP) of Dare County, was as well-attended as last year’s record-setting event. Last year more than 1,600 kids and their families gathered together at Roanoke Island Festival Park for a day of games and activities geared toward preschoolers.

According to CYP Executive Director Sara Sampson, when the gates opened at 9:30 on Friday morning, there was already a line stretching to the bridge over Doughs Creek at the entrance to the park.

CYP’s website describes it as “a private, non-profit organization that connects kids and their families with resources to help them thrive.” This year marks the 30th anniversary of the organization.
