Manteo High School track and field athletes make strong showing in Regionals

2024 Women’s Track and Field Regional Champions (Manteo High School Athletics)

The Manteo High School boys and girls track and field teams went to Kinston on Friday, May 10 to compete tin he 2A East Regional Championships. The boys got 6th overall and the girls are your 2024 2A East Regional Champions.

Adding to the sweeps in both of the pole vaults, the girls 4×800 relay consisting of Caroline Gay, Jennifer Pena Munoz, Meredith Gaskill and Maddie Flynn took 2nd place. The boys 4×800 relay consisting of Jordan Stokes, Solomon Cooper, Sam Head and Zeke Leary also took 2nd with a new school record.

Maddie Flynn took 2nd in the 1600 and 1st in 3200. Meredith Gaskill got 4th in the 1600, 3rd in 800, and 6th in the 3200. Zeke Leary finished 4th in the 800 with a new school record. Sam Head took 5th in the 1600 with a new school record & 6th in the 3200. Luke Stevens finished 7th in the 1600 & 3200. Jennifer Pena Munoz got 2nd in the 3200, 5th in the 1600, and 6th in the 800. Caroline Gay got 5th in the 800. The girls 4×400 relay consisting of Jasiya Burton Bailey, Juliette Scott, Caroline Gay and Maddie Flynn finished 3rd with a new school record.

Both boys and girls teams will be competing Friday, May 17  in the 2A State Championships.


Barnhill Building Group has been selected as the Construction Manager @ Risk by the College of the Albemarle and is seeking to pre-qualify construction trade contractors to submit bids for the furnishing labor, materials, equipment, and tools for the new College of The Albemarle – Allied Health Sciences Simulation Lab (COA Health Sciences) located in Elizabeth City, NC. Please note: Only subcontractors who have been prequalified by Barnhill will be able to submit a Bid.

The project consists of the new construction of a 38,000-sf, 2-story expansion to the existing Owens Health Sciences Center and will house classrooms, labs, and a simulation lab. The site is just over just over 4.5 acres and is located on an active campus. This new construction will be a steel structure with a brick and metal panel veneer, curtainwall, and storefront glazing with a PVC roof membrane.
