Tommy Good of Frisco

By on May 25, 2024

Tommy Good of Frisco, NC unexpectedly passed away last week; he was 80 years old. The cause was cancer that had been undetected for some time.

Tommy grew up on Hatteras Island with 3 brothers, Roy, George, and Gerald, and one sister, Delora. After trying a few different jobs, one on a pilot boat, and another pouring concrete, he landed employment with the Park Service where he stayed for 32 years. Dressed in the green pants and grey shirt of the park service, he worked and had fun with renowned Hatterasers Edward Perry and Lester Balance.

During his leisure time it is told that he was quite popular with the ladies and was always up for some fun. He raised a son, Jack Goodwin, known as Bo who lived with Tommy in the house next to his brother Gerald. Tommy and Gerald were the closest of brothers and were often together doing the things they enjoyed.

Some of Tommy’s favorite things included walking the beach in Ocracoke in the winter, having coffee with friends, feeding three cat colonies, and checking ocean conditions. He was also often seen with his good buddy Raymond Austin and they shared a nickname for each other…”U Did”…one can only wonder what that could mean? Tommy was known for listening to classic rock and country, and was fond of taking safety breaks with friends. When Tommy wasn’t out and about, you could find him at home watching cowboy movies, one after another.

Many friends and family will miss him.

Here’s to hoping Tommy is starring in his own cowboy movie, taking safety breaks with pals around the campfire, and listening to all his favorite tunes on the big juke box in the sky.

Rest in Peace Brother.
